The morning begins with a hearty breakfast at the lodge, where you’ll meet your guides—They are friendly and accommodating, skilled in the land, knowledgeable in quail habits and habitat and expert dog handlers. After gearing up, you’ll venture into the heart of the plantation aboard a mule-drawn wagon or jeep with a trailer, an homage to the timeless tradition of hunting expeditions. Jeeps are equipped with the guide’s choice of dogs for the day – pointers and flushers/retrievers that will be rotated out during the hunt for fresh feet and noses on the ground. SouthWinds’ kennels are known for excellent hunting dogs. The land is managed year round to provide the best habitat for quail and there will never be a shortage of quail to be seen. The hunting experience can be tailored to skill level, fitness, mobility, etc.

Lunch is often served in our 5-star lodge or out on the vast patio overlooking the Southwind grounds. The afternoon offers another round of hunting, giving you ample opportunity to engage with the land and its feathered inhabitants.
